     Hilary - Artistic & Executive Director

    MORE INFOHilary graduated from the Queensland University of Technology with a BA (Drama) after completing a Dip Ed (Early Childhood). She returned to Townsville in 1995 to start her community arts company Stage Bits. She began working for La Luna Youth Arts in 1996 as a casual tutor before becoming the Outreach Coordinator and later, Artistic Director. In the time Hilary has been with the company, she has been responsible for the creation and production of over 35 large and small scale events and performances. As well as a proficient arts administrator and producer, she is a skilled artist with an eye for quality performances. Her greatest passion though, is providing meaningful arts experiences for children and young people.

     Ryan - Film & Production Officer

    MORE INFORyan is a filmmaker, musician and theatre technician. He graduated with a Bachelor of Theatre Production from James Cook University before working around Townsville as a freelance theatre technician. Before coming to La Luna Youth Arts, he worked at The Lab and for them created a number of film clips, many of which went on to win awards and were screened on ABC's Rage. Ryan composes music and soundscapes for many of La Luna Youth Arts' productions and he is a skilled theatre technician. In his spare time he collects guitars and other music paraphernalia.

    James is a former youth member of La Luna Youth Arts where he learnt the skills of the trade in the performing arts industry, particularly street theatre. From there, he ran away to the circus in Melbourne and then Alice Springs where he honed the finer craft of circus manipulation tricks and the physical skills of aerial and acrobalance. He is a skilled performer as well as a much sought after circus director and choreographer. James has worked as an arts project coordinator for community organisations and has extensive experience working with children and young people as well as adults, including those with disabilities. He is a multiskilled artsworker and performer who is passionate about working with children and young people.

     Jonothan - Program Officer - Drama

    MORE INFOJonathon was born and bred in Townsville. He received a Bachelor of Arts - Drama from the Queensland University of Technology and returned to Townsville in 1994. Jonathon has worked with La Luna Youth Arts as a casual tutor from 1996. He has worked for Tropic Sun Theatre as an actor, director and workshop leader. Productions included Report to an Academy by Franz Kafka, Duck Variations by David Mamet, Salomé by Oscar Wild and numerous Shakespeare productions. While at Tropic Sun he was a founding member of TLC, a collective of theatre professionals that produce one act plays and original pieces on a minimal budget in non-theatre spaces. Jonathon's main focus in drama is acting, improvisation and group devised drama. Jonathon has been working full time at La Luna Youth Arts since 2010 as a program officer and tutors a number of performance-making ensembles as well as facilitating outreach workshops. His most recent accomplishment was directing The Witches by Roald Dahl for La Luna Youth Arts. Jonathon also enjoys being a father and recently welcomed his second son to the family.

    Fiona has been an established artists specialises in pottery and ceramics in Townsville for many years. She has a long association with the North QLD Potters including holding the positions of newsletter editor and secretary as well as having pieces in a number of exhibitions. She has taught accredited ceramics courses at the Cleveland Youth Detention centre and has coordinated a number of community projects for organisations such as the Mental Illness Fellowship, Townsville City Council, Community Renewal and La Luna Youth Arts. This association with La Luna Youth Arts deepened with Fiona accepted a traineeship to complete her financial qualifications. La Luna Youth Arts is now proud to have a practising artists as our administrator who doubles as an art tutor. When not at La Luna Youth Arts, Fiona is an 'Artist in Schools' as Wulguru State Primary School and is busy renovating a house and raising three children.

     Cath - Casual circus tutor/stage manager/set builder

    MORE INFOCath was dragged in to help on a show for La Luna Youth Arts 10 years ago and has been asked back time and time again in a number of different capacities - such is her versatility. As part of 'The Makebelievers' she has been instrumental is designing and realising a number of production sets and five years ago she was roped into being the assistant stage manager on a show she built the set for. Since then she has proved an invaluable member of the La Luna Youth Arts team, be it stage managing, performer wrangling, tutoring or performing. When she's not backstage you can find her clowning around as a member of La Luna Youth Arts circus performance troupe, The Manipulators, and teaching circus at numerous outside school hours care centres. She is also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do - this information helps to unnerve wayward performers backstage.

     Kylie - Dance

    MORE INFOKylie has been the Artistic Director of Extensions Youth Dance Company since 1998. Born in Townsville, Kylie trained with the Ann Roberts School of Dancing. She holds Advanced RAD and Teaching Qualifications - Advanced FATD and Elementary TC RAD.Kylie has been working in the arts industry in Townsville for 20 years. She has choreographed extensively for Extensions, Ann Roberts School of Dancing and is heavily involved in musical theatre. Kylie has worked on productions such as Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Boy from Oz and Cats.Kylie has worked professionally with Dance North, Tropic Sun Theatre Company and was employed for 4 years as movement lecturer for James Cook University Department of Theatre. Kylie is the primary choreographer for Extensions and is mentor to the youth performers and choreographers each year to develop their creative voice through movement.Kylie believes in Townsville’s strong arts community. She believes in the development of young people and the exchange of knowledge between herself and the young people she works with. Experienced both as a performer and choreographer Kylie enjoys working with vibrant artists, in the continuation of strengthening regional arts.
